Kissing Chaos

Wednesday, January 29, at El Torreon.

Kissing Chaos (the popular underground comic book) follows a group of teen runaways through a turbulent saga of love, sex and death. Kissing Chaos (the burgeoning indie band) is an Austin, Texas, threesome whose tumultuous rock is causing a stir of its own. Formed last summer from the remnants of Pop Unknown, the trio paints with the usual screamo-core colors -- graphite guitar flourishes, Etch A Sketch time signatures and lyrics written in crayon -- without looking like a bad Fugazi caricature. Inked to Fueled by Ramen (co-owned by Less Than Jake drummer Vinnie), the band quickly canvassed the States alongside the likes of Hot Rod Circuit, Koufax and Piebald. And though the title of its forthcoming EP, Enter With a Bullet, might be wishful thinking chartwise, KC's animated live sets have already left a good-size watermark on the indie-rock cool world.
