Tears of an Angel
(self-released)

When you invite the neighborhood to be featured on your album, you run the risk that your neighbors will outshine you. The good news for the artists that populate Kansas City rapper Kredulous' Tears of an Angel is that the host makes a facile business of jacking his swagger. Promise lurks in the first few moments of the album, when Kred's guttural, DMX-like rasp peeks through the polished production. Almost as soon as Kredulous opens his mouth, however, he swallows his own potential. It's hard to differentiate between tracks because the entire heap of an album is littered with parallel, laugh-out-loud moments of misogyny and gangster wackness. It's not that either of those themes can't be done well — Too Short and 50 Cent have staked successful careers on them. By contrast, Kredulous' lyrics are trite and banal, lacking in discernible imagination. On "Don't You," Kredulous quips: My style, in the zone/Ringtone, on your phone. He rivals that inanity later in the same song when he boasts, I rock the hat to the side/With your bitch in the back of the ride. Perhaps Prozak and DZK, the lyrically dexterous rappers featured on "We the People" — a misplaced political track on this party album — can offer some free tutoring. There are fine moments in Tears of an Angel. It's just that few, if any, involve Kredulous himself.

Ha Ha wow, this review is banana's kid. Really now? I have just been reading each comment, and wow! I personally like the album, its pretty sicc. When reading the review it clearly tells me that the reviewer didn listen to the album. If by my mistake he did then "Damn" you need a hug or something kyle...Even Jason has the nerve to say 4 out 10 and also say that he hasnt heard all the album, How you do that bro? I encourage all listeners or readers of the article to check the album out. No worries kred, im an artist too and the pitch gave me a rather rude review but nothing like this. you got skills kid, head up!

Personally, I love the lyrics. I don't listen to much rap/hiphop because there's no substance behind the music. Bad lyrics, nice beats. But with this cd, you can feel the emotions he's trying to evoke. Amazing beats, incredible lyrics. He's got so much talent. He's come so far from a few years ago when he released Living with Scars. Kredentials really improved lyrically. I think Tears of an Angel is has got something for everyone. Keep up the great work and always strive for more.

first i would like to say that I love the new Kred album and have been listening to it non stop since i got it. It seems to me that this review is more focused on pointing out the weaknesses of the album and fails to hit on some of the insane awsomeness heard on this album. "What it is" c'mon that track is sick! And "Wild" with Tech, they killed it with that one. Can't wait for you to review Kred's next album, he's on his way i'm telling you.

Ha, thanks Masha, but this is how it works. I appreciate you reading this and writing what you feel in your heart, but when asking for a review, this is what you can get. People give their opinions on what they think of it. There is no right or wrong answers. Simply opinions. I appreciate you sharing yours. I don't think they are bad mouthing me, or picking on me, simply giving their opinion of what they think of this project.
They know all musicians put their heart and soul in projects, and thats the price you pay when you take it to the public ear. This is what this business comes with. Its nothing personal, and I appreciate them listening. Thank you to all of the other comments people have left as well.
Thanks for all the support, including THE PITCH,
Thank you,

Kredulous

Well, First of all, Kredulous is an amazing person, who has a dream, and career.

And i don't think you should ruin that,

His music is fine, and You're opinion isn't appropriate and doesn't matter.

I'm not saying, you can't say bad about him, I'm telling you that all the work he puts in to his cd, all his free time, Does not deserve rude comments that are going to be posted in public, giving him a bad press.

It's not neccessary.

He's just like everyone else, and he's such a kind person, who loves to sing, it's his dream, and you're making it very hard on him.

I know him personally, and he's an awesome guy, and doesnt' deserve your judgment, because EVERYTHING you said, isn't true to most people, it's just a bad lie.

I don't like alot of people, or their music, but that doesn't mean i have to make their life's worse, and talk about them, lie about them, and put my opinion in public, thats just RUDE!!!

Well, just lettin ya know,
I'd be appreciated if yaa kept your opinion to yoursellff!

Thankks.
(:
Mashaa,

Kredulous's cousin!

I just purchased the c.d. Tears of an Angel and loved it!
The lyrics are amazing! You find yourself taken on an emotional journey from beginning to end. I would definately disagree with the review which as many others have pointed out was filled mostly with anger towards the artist than comments on the album.

I heard the album, haven't bought it, but will. I saw Kred play in Warrensburg. I used to work at a bar called The Setlist. They loved him because of his lyrics. This is not your average album and I am going to Best Buy now to get it.
