Restaurant Details

Jef Dover opened this tiny but excellent bakery in 2001 and has built a loyal following, even among south-of-the-river folks who happily travel over the Mighty Mo to sample his pan au chocolate, crusty baguettes, buttery croissants, comforting soups and thick sandwiches — and the best Asian spring rolls in the metro! Eating “in” can be difficult because Le Monde has only four tables and a few stools at a counter, but Dover can make everything to go, including the signature potage: a curried chicken soup lusciously laden with pieces of chicken breast, potatoes, carrots and onion in a delicate coconut-curry broth. Freshly made croissants make for great sandwiches — chicken salad, tuna salad or egg salad, and even a BLT. Save room for a vanilla custard Moulin au vent.
