Jef Dover opened this tiny but excellent bakery in 2001 and has built a loyal following, even among south-of-the-river folks who happily travel over the Mighty Mo to sample his pan au chocolate, crusty baguettes, buttery croissants, comforting soups and thick sandwiches and the best Asian spring rolls in the metro! Eating in can be difficult because Le Monde has only four tables and a few stools at a counter, but Dover can make everything to go, including the signature potage: a curried chicken soup lusciously laden with pieces of chicken breast, potatoes, carrots and onion in a delicate coconut-curry broth. Freshly made croissants make for great sandwiches chicken salad, tuna salad or egg salad, and even a BLT. Save room for a vanilla custard Moulin au vent.
