Ernest Wedoff's latest body of work analyzes a multiplicity of themes simultaneously, utilizing a distinctly contemporary vocabulary, and building relationships between paintings and those personally revered by the artist. Wedoff's vocabulary is inspired by the idea of the cyber manifestation of the individual and the transmission of our likeness through the internet. People and emotions alike have become coded notations in a system of electronic communication. In Wedoff's work, vinyl lines strike through color fields wavering with uniqueness, reacting with the color they lay upon to at times appear to vibrate as if they themselves are transmitting. The color fields are chosen based on relationships to subjects at hand, often being close friends held at a high regard or artists found to be influential by Wedoff.
