Back in October, Lawrence native Lisa Donnelly was the opening act, in her hometown, for Locksley as part of MTV's "Choose or Lose" tour. This time it's more personal — and more of a homecoming — as the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter returns as a headliner for her debut CD-release party. That CD, We Had a Thing, is an amalgam of Donnelly's musical experiences, from singing the blues in Kansas to fronting Los Angeles electronic-ish band A.M. Pacific, and it culminates in folk-pop smoothness with some jagged little edges. If her show is anything like her album, she'll have her acoustic moments, then she'll move your feet with electro beats. And she'll do it with a versatile voice that's ready for radio.
