Lisa Marie Presley's life has proven lucrative since the 2003 release of her first studio album, To Whom It May Concern, a collection of pop-rock for adults that dealt with such themes as the difficulty of having a famous daddy and dating abusive assholes. Produced by Glen Ballard, the album sold 140,000 copies in its first week of release (in Presley's 35th year of life). In the two years since To Whom, Presley has been busy with philanthropic career opportunism, protesting the labeling of troubled children as mentally challenged, and mugging for photos with uprooted Hurricane Quatrain victims. But with this year's Now What, Presley wants to get her hands on Avril's mall punks. The album features the talents of the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones and pays tribute to one of her alleged best friends, the late Johnny Ramone. Linda Perry also helped out this time around, co-writing five of the tracks and bringing in her homegirl Pink to sing on "Shine." In this tumultuous world of unhappy rock children, Presley is daring to dress like a punk, sing to thousands in cramped arenas and act as grand marshal at NASCAR events.
