The short film We Will Make You Whole Again, by Trevor Hawkins and Justin Gardner, took two years to complete. It's completely devoid of dialogue, and the only sound in the film is its score by Kansas City's Olympic Size. Gardner suggested music by the Album Leaf and Mogwai as touchstones; from there, Olympic Size worked at Christopher Tolle's Four Big Watts Studio to produce what frontman Billy Smith calls "a balance of sadness and hope [with] a sense of epic, grandiose, cinematic sound." After a screening of the film at Czar Bar (1531 Grand, 816-221-2244), Hawkins and Gardner answer questions from the audience. Film stills will be for sale. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the $5 show, and the film starts at 8:30 p.m. Seating is limited.
