Restaurant Details

Lucia’s is an unpretentious, family-owned neighborhood joint that unfortunately isn’t in a neighborhood but rather in a charmless suburban strip mall. Owner Tony Gallo cooks up his grandmother’s recipes and serves big portions in a pink-tinted dining room with vinyl tablecloths and Sinatra on the jukebox. The dining room, illuminated by neon beer signs and hung with Gallo family photos, may be a little too casual for some tastes. But Gallo doesn’t pretend that his place is more than it is: a low-key Italian joint with big bowls of pasta; chicken, shrimp and veal cooked in lots of garlic, and spumoni cheesecake for dessert. — Charles Ferruzza
