With a mission of connecting women and women's causes through film, Lunafest
showcases the work of female directors — this year's thought-provoking topics include obstetric fistulas, women's rugby and the world of an aging nude model. And the fest can be a venue, as well, for raising money for local nonprofits. The program makes its local stop from 4 to 6 p.m. at Liberty Hall (644 Massachusetts, Lawrence, 785-749-1972), in support of GaDuGi SafeCenter, the Lawrence crisis center serving victims of sexual violence. "Like GaDuGi,
Lunafest promotes healthy lifestyles, outreach, empowerment and community change," says the center's Ashley Arenholz, who is organizing the event. Tickets are available at the door and cost from $7 to $10.
