Macabre Cinema

The Macabre Cinema (1222 West 12th Street) adapts famously terrifying film characters and situations into one of the West Bottoms' newer Halloween attractions. Guests are ushered through a vintage movie theater whose screen, illuminated despite an ostentatiously broken projector; becomes the threshold across which lurk the most terrifying and recognizable figures Full Moon Productions can conjure without violating copyright laws. Like The Beast, The Macabre Cinema's open layout is a maze through which guests must find their path as they experience scenes from Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shining, Frankenstein and other terrifying films. Fri., Sept. 25, 8 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 26, 8 p.m.; Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 7 p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Sept. 25. Continues through Nov. 1, 2009
