Hands down, McCormick & Schmicks has one of the least expensive happy hours in town. Wine and beer are on special, and two or three bucks will get you a variety of different appetizers, including smoked salmon spread, herbed mussels or even an entrée-sized hamburger with fries. The seafood restaurants Plaza location attracts an abundance of wingtip types, but the place isnt stuffy. The circular bar area located under a stained-glass dome offers ample seating and a great view of the Plaza.
The first Kansas City outpost of the upscale, Oregon-based seafood chain features 30 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish served up grilled, broiled, fried, seared, sautéed or folded into taco shells — not to mention steaks and chicken. The lively main dining room is the place to see and be seen under that massive dome of stained glass. — Charles Ferruzza
