The conversation happening inside Michael's Lakewood Pub belies the quaint stone exterior of this strip-mall bar. It's the kind of place where friends drop pop-culture references with no regard for where they land, at least syntactically. The pub has a relaxed, laid-back vibe, thanks in part to the classic rock coming from the jukebox and minimal lighting (just a few lights over the bar and the shine of neon beer logos). Regulars rehash their days over cheap drafts and largely ignore the few televisions — no HD flat screens here — scattered around the room. A younger set comes by on Thursdays for DJ nights to dance; bands set up on the weekends in the large open space at the front of the pub.
