Las Vegas-based Harrah's Entertainment Inc. created a restaurant with potent brand recognition when it brought together two iconic Missouri restaurateurs: gravel-voiced Michael Garozzo, owner of four namesake Kansas City Italian restaurants, and Charlie Gitto of the popular St. Louis-based Gotto's on the Hill. The menu's not inexpensive, but offers a winning combination of pasta, chicken, veal and seafood dishes in a stylish setting. Fans of Garozzo's other restaurants will miss the vitality and intimacy of his distinctive dining rooms -- as a culinary destination point, Mike & Charlie's misses the boat.
