After years of trying to be something more than just a pretty, midpriced Italian restaurant inside the Hallmark-owned Crown Center complex, Milano is finally coming into its own. The sunny, greenhouse-style dining room serves a tasty mix of sophisticated Northern Italian dishes and heartier Sicilian fare. Although Milano is sometimes overlooked in favor of Lidia’s, its more high-profile neighbor just north of Union Station, it has all the right ingredients for success (including free garage parking). — Charles Ferruzza
