Minus the Bear

Minus the Bear got famous the easy way: with ridiculous song titles. (Anything called "Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!" demands to be heard.) But those who tuned in found that the Seattle band wasn't just a goofy novelty act. Its latest single, "My Time" (from new record OMNI), comes dangerously close to being a mindless sex jam, which makes sense on an album that's much less complicated than previous releases. The band has toned down angular guitar lines for a more radio-ready electro-pop sound. Some may be unimpressed with Minus the Bear's new direction, but the group's solid back catalog will sustain older fans. And no matter what, Minus the Bear will always be the only band to name a song "Thanks for the Killer Game of Crisco Twister."
