Moving Units

Proper timing is the essence of some things -- birth control and cookies, say. And musical trends. The members of Moving Units learned about the latter the hard way. After forming in Los Angeles in 2001, the trio released an EP on the 31G label in 2002. Excited buzz followed, and the group commenced work on its full-length debut, Dangerous Dreams. All appeared favorable for a 2003 release; blogs salivated in anticipation, and the press were told to expect the disc in the fall. Then its release was delayed. And delayed. And delayed. Finally, Dreams saw the light of day last October, but by that time, the group's postpunk slashing and discopunk backbeats -- though utterly danceable and certainly polished --sounded unoriginal and anemic in the wake of Radio 4, !!! and the Rapture.
