Mr. Nuro's Winter Wonderland assembles several KC DJs who made the club scene what it was in 2006. This Friday, Balanca's serves up two floors of electronic dance music. Downstairs, J Fortune and cQuence are expected to spin the neuro-funk and liquid-funk subgenres of drum-'n'-bass, and DJ OE and Tactic bring much slower, broken beats. Blindman plays infectious records of the two-step variety. In the main room, Chris D and headliner Pat Nice will house you. Expect more house on this floor from the Control Freeks and Mr. Nuro (pictured) and his sidekick, Amjanda. The curveball on this otherwise mostly house floor is Bucho; it's hard to pin down what he's going to play. Before rolling your eyes at this DJ lineup and thinking Here we go again, chew on what Mr. Nuro has to say: "There's a reason these people are getting so many gigs."
