According to Phil Shafer, the man behind
Sike Style Designs and Sikenomics Clothing, the future ain't what it used to be. As the magentas, aquas and purples of his fall line of streetwear don't quite match up with the complex, mineral shades of most of 2008's autumn trends, it's safe to say that the theme of Shafer's fall release party revolves around the mash-up between the old school and the unexplored. Not quite a traditional fashion show, the event — hosted by local hip-hop act CES Cru — will feature DJs Sku and Tactic and the jams of early-'80s American electro-hop artist Egyptian Lover with Jamie Jupiter. Sike's style team will mingle with the crowd and show off the new designs upstairs in the Skylight Room at Crosstown Station (1522 McGee, 816-471-1522). Tickets are available at
