A couple of decades ago, this faux-roadhouse restaurant way south of the I-435 loop actually would have been one. But as Johnson County sprawls south, this attractively designed high-concept restaurant does more than offer the best kind of roadhouse-style food (steaks, sandwiches, meatloaf) in a Prairie-inspired dining room; theres also a state-of-the-art sports bar on the other half, boasting no fewer than 28 TVs (all tuned to athletic events) and enough parking outside the free-standing building to contain a factorys output of cars. And thats just what it looks like; the place has been jamming since the two owners opened its doors, proving that a neighborhood restaurant in the right new housing development will lure in the SUV-and-Volvo set. The prices arent outrageous here, considering that the portions are gargantuan (the Towering Chocolate Cake could feed a family of ten); even the doorknob-sezed salad croutons look like theyve been zapped by a Growth Ray. — Charles Ferruzza
