Northern Arts

If you didn't get enough art entertainment at First Friday, head north. The first Liberty arts festival, Liberty Arts Squared, features work from local artists, authors and even kids, and there's a competitive element: a jury awarding prizes of up to $500. The setting? The Historic Square in downtown Liberty, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The free festival includes music spots at Corbin Theatre and the south side of the Liberty courthouse and literary readings at Crepes on the Square and in writers' booths. Also: wandering performance artists, including dancers. For kids, there's a puppet show on the north courthouse stage at 11:30 a.m. Thank Historic Downtown Liberty Inc. and the Liberty Arts Commission for putting on the event. Meanwhile, if you fancy yourself an artist, fill out an application for next year. For more information, see libertyartssquared.org.
Sat., June 5, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., 2010
