Nunplussed

Dry-witted siblings Amy and David Sedaris have made separate marks on the landscape of American pop culture, she with cult-classic Strangers With Candy and he with his droll memoirs. Often lost in the shuffle are their collaborations as playwrights, including Stitches, One Woman Shoe and The Book of Liz. At 8 p.m. tonight through Saturday, you can see a performance of the latter at the David Theater in Alumni Hall at Park University (8700 Northwest River Park Drive in Parkville). The Book of Liz tells the story of Sister Elizabeth Donderstock, resident of the Clusterhaven religious community, where her cheese balls are the sect's key commodity. Sister Liz flees her insular home to explore the outside world, leading to comical encounters. Meanwhile, both Liz and Clusterhaven must ponder the place of her cheese balls in the larger scheme of things. For more information or to purchase tickets ($5), call 816-584-6451 or see park.edu/theatre.
