"Lamar Hunt is suddenly obsessed with winning. (Chiefs personnel) are getting faxes in the middle of the night from Lamar, at 3 and 4 in the morning. For some reason, I don't know what it is, but Lamar has been driven and is driving his people because he wants to win, win, win, win, win. So it's not just about filling the stadium, and the pressure is coming from the top this year."
-- Dave Stewart, KQRC 98.9

"Where [Elvis Grbac] is going to be, what we're going to do with him, what the situation is down the road, I'm really right now not in a position to answer that because we haven't started that in-depth evaluation process."
-- Al Saunders, Chiefs offensive coordinator, WHB 810
GH: The Chiefs are due to hand Grbac $10 million on March 1 if they plan to keep him. Speculation is that they'll restructure Grbac's contract to make it more cap-friendly, but there is a chance they'll part ways with Grbac and look elsewhere for a quarterback to lead the Chiefs in 2001.

"Trent Green will be a great player wherever he goes -- whether he stays in St. Louis or whether he goes someplace else. Trent Green is an outstanding quarterback. The thing that separates the quarterbacks in terms of productivity, for the most part, is their ability to throw the ball accurately. People talk about strong arms and the ability to get the ball down the field. Well, Tony Banks had a strong arm until we came to St. Louis and decided that strong arm needed to be somewhere else, and we sent him to Baltimore and signed Trent Green because he was an accurate thrower."
-- Saunders, 810

"And if Elvis can continue to develop his ability to throw the ball more accurately, he can be a very, very valuable player and a very productive player in this style of offense, but accuracy is the key."
-- Saunders, 810
GH: Saunders watched Grbac up close for two years in Kansas City. It sounds to me like he may have questions about both Grbac's courage and his accuracy under pressure. Is the Rams' Trent Green in the Chiefs' plans?
