Open Studios Weekend

Fifteen years ago, the Charlotte Street Foundation was among the first to take advantage of downtown’s then-empty spaces, using them for artists’ studios and exhibitions. The foundation's Urban Culture Project opened its doors last weekend to show what this year’s residents -- seven performance groups and 30 visual artists -- have been up to. May 18 and 19’s open studios, one of two such weekends each year, marked the end of the first phase of the UCP's anniversary exhibition, The Frontier, at Paragraph and UCP Space. The Pitch was there.
