Scorpio/Scorpio Rising* (Oct 23-Nov 21): Writer’s note: This is a concept column. Planets compel, they do not impel. As do concepts and ideas. I’ve de-sentimentalized myself, as does any professional playing a role. Doctors, lawyers, and in the spirit of this week’s column, policemen. As the progenitor of The Evolutionary Police, it is in your best interest that I’ve done so. Whether you are a 21st century Christian mimicking a 1st century Jewish religious leader is not the point (you shouldn’t be reading this anyway) or are a free thinking person on a mission to live a better life. The point is how you treat growth from the vantage point of your soul. It cannot be all about you from the soul’s perspective; it has to be all about us (if challenged then use the royal “we”). Practicing what you preach is an admirable mantra whenever, yet, now it is to be written on your forehead. You cannot (and must not) monitor our spiritual evolution when you’ve neglected your own. If you want to market Intelligent Design, check your natal chart for major planetary placements in Sagittarius or Aries first.

Sagittarius/Sagittarius Rising* (Nov 22-Dec 19): Maybe I take myself too seriously, why not just tell you that Jupiter (expansion) moves through Taurus (realism), your 6th house of health, work and daily routine? Because most astrological writers already do. This week I’ve chosen to introduce you to a concept I call The Evolutionary Police. TEP can sometimes mate with TED (Technology/Education/Design) and make beautiful babies. Like who would argue against clean water? Or healthy food for everyone? When we join the goodwill of our communities with taking care of the least of ours, we all evolve. Oh, dang, it has not happened all around the world, yet. This type of meandering idealism fuels your soaring spirit which fuels your imagination. There is a fundamental strain to your sign, but that happens when there is little exposure to the world beyond your neighborhood. One of your best roles would be Spokesperson for TEP, extolling the virtues of shared growth. Gives you more to teach and to pontificate. Intelligent Design, well, you’d have to have been there, and witnessed it, no?

Capricorn/Capricorn Rising* (Dec 21-Jan 19): Rule follower par excellence, you’re likely to head up one of the board positions of The Evolutionary Police (TEP). A judge who takes TEP’s perspective very seriously. Your totem animal, the mountain goat, lends his strength to discipline your more baser urges, methodically. You can possess an unerring sense of true conservation. Sometimes your insights take on a dismissive ‘let them eat cake’ or “pulling oneself up by one’s bootstraps” mentality. It only becomes offensive when you ignore our personal stories, that is, you do not listen. Even in America our exceptional evolution is encapsulated by our “American Dream”. To those who hover below or around the poverty line, this “dream” seem like a runaway slave near the Mason-Dixon line going south instead of north. To evolve and to be a monitor of evolution demands a pulling each other up through our roots, our innate connectedness.

Imagine that Horatio Alger (dream weaver himself) was a Capricorn, go figure.

Aquarius/Aquarius Rising*(Jan 20-Feb 19): You get really, I mean, really surprised when your futuristic vision(s) are not heard. The role you’d play in The Evolutionary Police (TEP) would be Community Organizer. One part Henny Penny, one part Florence Nightingale and one part Abraham Lincoln, you are an amalgamation of wisdom, folly and fun. You identify with the people, but not people who often come into a battle of the wits unarmed. Unless you are a Smarmy Aquarian with suspicious con artist (sociopath) skills (Hello, Mrs. Palin, Glenn Beck and Ms. Bachmann’s Aquarius Moon/Instincts), you rarely, if ever, suffer fools gladly … and, then it is to shore up your bank account or mental deficiencies (can you say Political Action Committees?). However, you aspire to be TEP’s town crier, alerting us to upcoming catastrophes. Just remember, though, soldiers and organizers can still party with the best of them. In other words, know when to lighten up and open your heart. We all cannot detach early conditioning and then evolve at the same pace as you can, hence, the suggested heart opening. True evolution must involve and integrate both heart and mind.
