Booty rules. Read Taurus for original definition.

Sagittarius/Sagittarius Rising* (Nov 22-Dec 19): This is truly your time of year - birthdays and parties, you love to celebrate life. Adventures, letting down of guards and traveling to see those you love make up your priorities. Your trick is to resist assuming that the good times and your power last forever. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. For those of your pre-Saturn return (under 30), you learn humility the hard way, big risks not paying off. Let's presume that age brings wisdom. And, like age, knowledge grows in its precise application for everyone's benefit, hence it becomes wisdom. An excellent adventure, at present, would be to determine which role you are playing in your closest relationships versus which role you've been assigned. Playing a role in which you are not suited (too many rules and/or anything that suppresses your free spirit) would be the height of folly. Let down your guard only when there's a mutual benefit, and then there is less likely to be humiliation (which is usually someone else's idea of humility for you).

Capricorn/Capricorn Rising* (Dec 21-Jan 19): The misuse of personal power is an aspect of living with which you are familiar. Like your preceding sign of Sagittarius, your life can hover on the cliff of depression, falling off at the slightest hint that you are not measuring up to our expectations. Take a page from Sag's book and develop your free spirit that is protected by your chosen higher power. Ancestors, angels, sprites and spirits conspire to keep you fulfilling your life's missions. It is extremely easy for you to believe that the physical world is all there is, giving cursory attention to traditional spiritual fancies. Huh? You can misuse your power through not recognizing it or projecting unto authorities figures in this world, the next or the invisible. That's why it's important to move beyond what you consider or have been told are "mistakes." Use your inner spiritual vision to imagine the find of support you need, that you'll heed, and then proceed confidently. The more you accept your strength, the less likely you'll misuse it because there will be no need to overcompensate or impress anyone.

Aquarius/Aquarius Rising*(Jan 20-Feb 19): Your ruler, Uranus, has begun to move again in the compatible initiating fire (spiritual) sign of Aries. Like a newborn babe, you thrive on returning to an innocence of motivation (and Aries can teach you how to stay in the moment free from those pesky worst-case scenarios that flash in your consciousness). When your mind lands in a quagmire, you can use this Aries energy to simply go on a journey where you travel with those who refuse to fight from petty motivations of pride or resentment. Instead, become guileless and as accepting as an infant; then you may exhibit your feelings without censor or thought. When you concentrate on the future and the role you've chosen to play in it, you can easily be led to see how you can inspire us to make transformations for our common good and humanity. Yours is not a personal sign; it is a communal one. Acceptance of your role with others (and the planet) allows you to relax your innate cynicism.

Pisces/Pisces Rising (Feb 18-Mar 20): You feel as if you are almost there. And you are. There is knowing why you live your life as you live it. First, determine why you give to others before giving. Why trumps what and to whom. Second, realize consciously how you've been sold a bill of defective religious and spiritual goods. Third, wash away your perceived sins and transgressions. The more you accept that the judge, jury and executioner exist within your soul, the more likely you will give because it is within your impulse to do so, not your duty or obligation. Also, you start to tolerate (and even accept) your darker feelings and thoughts. Realize that your soul's source is fed through water. Compassion is like rain that replenishes our rivers, our water (soul) supply. As long as you seek and see your fellow living beings in a compassionate light, there is no need to fear what your soul brings to you. With no fear, you know and feel that you have arrived. Continued in Aries ...

Aries/Aries Rising* (Mar 21-Apr 19): Begun in Pisces. Your two signs share an innocence, a trust that everything balances out in the end. You know that hackneyed platitude "Everything's going to be all right"? Well, you believe that unless you've had some early caregiver be excessively critical of your individual efforts. Try this belief on for size: "All that is visible must grow beyond itself, extend into the realm of the invisible. Thereby it receives true consecration and clarity and takes firm root in the cosmic order." Holy is as holy does, and holy can sometimes look like Swiss cheese. Point? This week at the culmination of fire found in the later degrees of enthusiastic Sagittarius, you have to place your inner (third) eye on the spiritual ball of personal evolution. As the first sign of the zodiac, you cannot afford to become complacent and uncentered. An uncentered you is a scattered you. Or you stir up drama simply because you're bored or too complacent. Trust that you are an individual player in the cosmic order, and, like human sports, the spiritual world has rules. Your participation in courageously showing us your gifts and insights makes this game worth playing.

Taurus/Taurus Rising* (Apr 20-May 21): People fall all over themselves to give you their booty, as in pirate booty (what did you think I was talking about?). Ahoy, mates, it is important for you to not come to expect that our booty is your booty or that we have more booty that we've shown you. That's what my ancestors (the non-pirate ones J) labeled "having no home training." Swashbuckling and swagger swayed the sleeping masses in times past. For you at present, the subtle and appreciative approach works best in securing any and all booty. The Middle English's etymology comes for "sharing of the spoils" usually in barter or exchange. Oftentimes the best relationships have collateral assets through a mutual and free sharing (and when or if the Fed or Euro goes kaput, booty's original definition comes into serious focus). Beginning on Christmas and lasting until June 11, 2012, you have Jupiter, a major planetary energy for increasing your booty, moving forward in Taurus. So, will you share your booty? And how will you be bootylicious? (Couldn't resist, particularly with a pregnant Beyonce.)

Gemini/Gemini Rising* (May 21-Jun 20): Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss is an appropriate symbol for you this week. Whenever your bi-curious ruler, Mercury, starts to move again, folks come out of the woodwork to get with you. After all, the offspring of Mercury and Venus was Hermaphroditus, patron of hermaphrodites. From the vantage point of all things mental, thought transcends gender. Is a thought masculine or feminine? As you can glean, acting on one's thoughts and simply thinking one's thoughts can be very different. Mercury, when he moves very slowly, gives all of us (but especially you and the Virgos) an opportunity to monitor and study our thoughts. Also, it is ripe with opportunities from those alleged coincidences. Oh, by the by, it is not necessarily the places you go, but it is the people you meet, and what you begin thinking to get into with said people. Alter your unexamined philosophies about relating, change your life.

Cancer/Cancer Rising* (Jun 21-July 21): The last gasp akin to the swan's song chimes in as your symbol for this week. Did you know that a swan's wings brought together can break a human limb or two? Humph, we scoff at the power of emotions (and we pay less for occupations that deal with feelings - teachers, social workers and artists come to mind). Your last breath, so to speak, makes it a purifying one. Clean up the stagnant air in your lungs brought on by staying still when you need to get moving. Know how the swan has already transformed from the ugly-duckling stage. You are not the person you once were. Sure, others may be intimate with your history, but they know very little about your present (and have even less insight into your future). At every winter solstice, you get a new slate of striking the right balance in your peer relationships. Please don't make us an offer we cannot refuse like a godfather keeping score. Instead, offer to make all things new based on a mutual respect.

Leo/Leo Rising* (July 22-Aug 22): As the only fixed fire (spiritual) sign, to know what or who brings you pleasure is paramount. The sun is a star giving its light to heat our Earth. It is only when you want to continually escape the rigors and responsibilities of Earth that your pleasure-seeking nature becomes excessive, superficial and vain. At the tail end of the culminating fire sign of Sagittarius, it is extremely easy for you to go to extremes based on imagined slights or promises of unlimited support. However, acknowledging the limitations of the physical world gives your personality heft and gravitas. To operate with the courage and intention to not engage aggressively in fights or arguments makes your star shine even brighter (if that's possible). Practical application: What role would you play in the current "Occupy Movement"? How can you adorn the truth with an intractable family member so you'll be heard but not dismissed?

Virgo/Virgo Rising* (Aug 22-Sept 22): The past 2,000 years have equated spiritual quests with an ascetic lifestyle. Fortunately, as communication speeds up and out, helping like-minded souls connect, this is no longer true. Being concerned about physical survival can be interfering with a spiritual quest as much as having excessive wealth. The 1 percent may have the resources for the search but no inclination. Your adaptable earth sign lives to serve. Once you have enough, choosing to integrate a spiritual practice increases the joy and lessens the guilt. Contemplate the life of Virgoan Barry White (R.I.P.). He had a rags-to riches story that would rival the novellas of Horatio Alger. It is how you behave as you amass riches that truly matters. This time of year tests your virtuous behavior. Use your quiet answers to deflect our discontent and anger. Once Mercury begins to pick up speed, so will your mind's ability to communicate what you're feeling (particularly about past wounds). When in doubt, sing inside your mind (it's more fun than counting to 10). Answer others when ready, not a moment before. Deliberating on serious issues is not a weakness, no matter who's watching or paying.

Libra/Libra Rising* (Sep 23-Oct 22): Accepting the change of the seasons is a no-brainer. No one plants seeds in late autumn in a temperate weather zone. These two statements apply to your intimate relationships. You must know when to retreat from those whose soil has no capacity to grow from your joyous seeds. It is how you communicate your love, peace and innate belief in the goodness of humanity that acts as a hoe for our fallow Earth. For the seemingly unreachable, it is your persistent optimism and reflection of our needs that behave like a plow over our infertile land. Late fall opens up a cornucopia of thoughts, visions and ideas of what your immediate to human family is capable of producing when we play and work together toward common goals. You are to use your intuitive sense of how to influence the preparation of transformation you know is to come, like squirrels gather nuts for the winter. Again, you know the order of the seasons, be they actual or in your connections. Prepare for loss, while seeking gain. Continued in Scorpio ...

Scorpio/Scorpio Rising* (Oct 23-Nov 21): Begun in Libra. Unlike your preceding sign, you cynically expect loss, grief and mourning. You can build up defenses excessively in direct proportion to how much you do not have or what has been taken from you. Once you realize that you came into this life with the allegory of Adam and Eve after she ate from the tree, you can rest easy. Huh? Allow yourself to enjoy the pomegranate fruit and its allusion to sexual pleasure and its corresponding loss of innocence. If you continue to look back on what could have been, you will miss what's right in front of you. For the last three weeks, Mercury's tailspin has had one hand wanting to rub one out or finding your favorite plaything while imagining lovers past. Use these exceptionally fiery and celebrative days of Sagittarius pondering what it would be like once Adam and Eve found the tree of life (and made it past the two cherubs guarding it). You have the knowledge of good and evil, but do you possess the wisdom of how to transcend or integrate the two within you? That's what the next several weeks will clearing up for you.
