Cancer/Cancer Rising* (Jun 21-July 21): On the fourth Day of Christmas/My true love gave to me/Four calling birds ... I had to do a bit of research for this one. From the word "colly," which is an old name for coal, and coal is black, so you receive four blackbirds from your true love? They can be pretty territorial when mating (sound familiar?). Ted Andrews in Animal Speak states that blackbirds symbolize the understanding the energies of Mother Nature. He talks how omens and mysticism follow blackbirds. God may work in mysterious ways, but it is Mother Earth who produces the physical outcome of His alleged mysteries. Your sign gets its strength from the matriarchal side of your family. No nagging or whining allowed, just straight talk from your independent perspective chimes in as a survival tip during family gatherings. Unless someone else brings up your past or tries to revise familiar history, just fly away blackbird or make them a pie. Be gentle and soothing, even when they are irascible, and it'll be an excellent set of holy days.

Leo/Leo Rising* (July 22-Aug 22): On the fifth Day of Christmas/My true love gave to me/Five golden rings ... even in this cumulative Xmas ditty, you are unique. Not only do you get the musical bridge, but you get the only tangible human-made gift. The rest of us get people working, dancing or drumming and lots of birds. Rings, like a circle, have no ending or beginning. A constant lock of two hearts forever together, that's a healthy depiction of rings. Also, gold is your color, and all its warmth and prosperity that it represents. You make off like a cat burglar in this song. Venus, who manages our taste factor, moves through Aquarius (your seventh house of sharing and connecting) until January 14. Aquarius challenges your risk-adverse nature. You will be attracted to the unusual and bizarre for the next several weeks, be they gifts, experiences or people. Lose your caution or your worry about what others think, and take that leap, no matter which day of Xmas you happen to be celebrating.

Virgo/Virgo Rising* (Aug 22-Sept 22): On the sixth day of Christmas/My true love gave to me/Six geese a-laying ... this is an obvious connection of Mother Goose dropping her eggs in your precisely organized nest. Their feathers are commonly used in bedding, therefore symbolizing fidelity between couples. Like your opposite sign of Pisces (who sometimes live for the quick flyaway), can teach you how to leave your physical responsibilities alone for a spell. A little fantasy will help any stagnant relationship. It is important not to repress your passion for excellence. It's better to risk self-expression (even when it eclipses others) than for you to hold back and let a less focused person take the lead. In addition, geese represent the call of the quest and travels to legendary places (as in fairy tales). Accept your quest for perfection while accepting how it is a quest, not a final destination.

Libra/Libra Rising* (Sep 23-Oct 22): On the seventh day of Christmas/My true love gave to me/Seven swans a-swimming ... like your preceding sign, whose precise service equals your search for perfect balance, swans and geese have much in common. Mate for life, both birds do (Yoda speak). Their necks are a distinguishing characteristic, bridging the head (higher realm) and the body (lower realm). Similar to your oscillating scales, you seek to initiate your closest folks into a more perfect equilibrium. Like the number seven, the swan is a totem for poets and mystics. Realize how sensitive you are to the feelings and energetic output of others. Swim through the psychic pollution that can naturally occur whenever people who share history come together. You have immense protection from your guardian, Venus, who moves through compatible and detached Aquarius until January 14, 2012. You can embody the energies of fun and play instead of control and domination quite easily.
