P&L Value Week

In order for a place to claim big-city status, it must have a restaurant week. Add Kansas City to that list with the Power & Light District's Summer 2009 Restaurant Week, today through August 30. Lunch runs $10 a plate, and dinner is $25 to $30. With 17 participating restaurants, everybody should be able to find someplace to eat. A successful Restaurant Week experience requires some pre-game scouting. Choose wisely because you'll get a $5 gift certificate at lunch and a $10 gift certificate at dinner to spend on your next visit. Consider the regular prices and menu offerings from restaurants when making your decision. The Flying Saucer (101 East 13th Street, 816-221-1900), for example, offers soup, sandwich and a beer. And the Peachtree (31 East 14th Street, 816-886-9800) might be the best bet for dinner, with a three-course menu that includes crab claws and fried catfish. See districtrestaurantweek.com to make reservations and read about participating restaurants.
