Trendy restaurants come and go, but the Peppercorn Duck Club is a relic of a time when dining out was a larger-than-life experience. Sweet little touches remain, such as American Beauty roses for female patrons, though the décor seems a bit dated. Still, the restaurant is full of sensory pleasures: the heady aroma of roasting ducks (each filled with apples and oranges to enhance moisture and flavor), elegantly set tables, buttery crostini grilled by a handsome waiter in the center of the dining room. Servers are old-school, paying close attention to a diner's every need, and the food is truly exquisite. It's expensive, but the dinner prices do include the Ultra Chocolatta Bar, with an appealing assortment of rich chocolate desserts. — Charles Ferruzza
