Placebo

Sunday, October 29, at the Beaumont Club.

Often enough, it's really hard to understand the lyrics of rock and pop bands, and usually that's a good thing. Placebo is a rare exception. Whether the band is rocking out, '70s-style (2000's Black Market Music) or inspiring you to dance like it's 1983 (2006's Meds, 2003's Sleeping With Ghosts), Brian Molko's voice always rings out clearly, intoning tales of drugs and loss. They're definitely pop lyrics, but they're well-written enough to avoid cliché. In other words, Britpop at its best.
