Owned by youthful chef John Williams and his girlfriend, Sarah Ponak, this intimate restaurant is as close to a beatnik boîte as youll find in Kansas City. Printed each night on a big green chalkboard, the limited menu lists five or six hot dishes and as many cold ones, including salads, pates, fresh fish and beef. Williams has a cosmopolitan sensibility, so even if the nights offerings include his all-American namesake dish, the other choices are likely to be French in flavor. The desserts, made by Johns grandma, Grace Crispin, are strictly Midwestern: hot apple crisp or chocolate layer cake. — Charles Ferruzza

We really enjoyed it. The small dinning room ambiance and food were much better than most large Plaza restaurants.
We had seared scallops in a mushroom risotto w/ asparagus and a chicken pot pie.
The Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding was amazing! We will go back for this alone.
The only downsides were some of the food tended to be a tad too salty and there seemed little other choice to drink. We do not drink cocktails or wine. I had an iced tea but it didn't taste right.
