Produce A-Go-Go

Lovingly grown and gently transported, farmers’ wares at local markets are often organic and sustainable. Farmers markets throughout the city are open, so seek out produce bazaars for fresh fruits, veggies and other good-for-you products.

Spring vegetables — lettuces, spinach, asparagus and snow peas — as well as annual and perennial plants are in the parking lot of the Waldo ReStore (303 West 79th Street, 816-231-6889) from 3 to 7 p.m. New to the neighborhood, this market runs through the end of August and hopes to provide Missouri-produced strawberries, peaches and apples. Eggs, honey, meats and cheeses also are available.
Wednesdays, 3-7 p.m. Starts: May 4. Continues through Sept. 1, 2011
