Question of Arms

Is a bayonet more of a gun or a knife? If this is the sort of question that keeps you awake at night, you'll fit right in at the 17th-annual Missouri Valley Arms Collectors Association's Winter Arms Show at the KCI Expo Center (11731 North Ambassador), where hundreds gather each year to showcase their antique arsenals and discuss the whose-is-bigger evolution of killing innovations. MVACA has been studying and promoting — and protesting legislation against — all manner of craft weapons since the 1950s, so exhibits range from those 18th-century shoot-and-stab contraptions to chattering World War II-era Gatling guns. The viewing range opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and again from 9 to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $7 and free for children 12 and younger (who must be accompanied by an adult). This might be a good place to pick up that NRA sticker you missed out on at Christmas.
Sat., Jan. 9, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., Jan. 10, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., 2010
