Quintron and Miss Pussycat is the band that plays in the bar at the end of the world. When the duo bangs out its "swamp tech" brand of garage-dance rock, the sound is simultaneously ominous and gleeful. Creating gospel tones from his customized Hammond-Rhodes hybrid organ, complete with automobile grill and working headlights, Quintron wails and croons stories of life lived desperately and with gusto. For listeners, the mechanized disco beats integrate so perfectly into the rock fury that the impulse to dance outweighs the anxiety of looking like a dork. A one-man band, Quintron is joined on maracas and voice by the fabulous Miss Pussycat, who also hails from Q's home of New Orleans. An accomplished puppeteer, she brings a full-blown, multiple-character show on tour. Often, the audience is invited to get in on the act.
