Chef-owner Eddie Adel and his wife, Barbara Scott, deserve a hand for putting a lot of style and character into this little suburban restaurant. Because the place is located on the perimeter of the famous Longview Farm - the creation of Kansas Cityâs great lumber baron Robert A. Long -- Adel incorporated two stable doors and a magnificent Tiffany light fixture from the Long familyâs fabled show-horse barn. His menu has plenty of character, too. Dishes range from the familiar (meatloaf, burgers, seared salmon) to the slightly fancy: pork scallopini and grilled white-corn cakes. Adel and Scott are young parents, so this neighborhood restaurant is family-friendly and extremely casual. — Charles Ferruzza
