Restaurant Details

Kansas City has more than its share of small, family-owned neighborhood Italian restaurants. This one, in the Kansas suburbs, is surprisingly sexy and interesting. There’s no real Ricco to greet customers (he sold the restaurant a few years ago), but the staff is friendly and accommodating and the traditional Italian fare – from baked manicotti to crab cakes sautéed in lobster sauce – is a lot more memorabile than you might expect (and moderately priced, too). The pizza and baked pastas come out hot and bubbly from a fragrant wood-fired oven. — Charles Ferruzza
