We aren't sure what's up with all the pictures of Marilyn Monroe displayed throughout this slightly strange but otherwise clean dive just north of the river on Swift Avenue. They seem out of place among the beer swag, neatly placed on the highly lacquered wood walls. People who don't like to listen to others sing karaoke don't fit in here, either. The voice of the KJ travels out onto the sidewalk, past the smokers congregating outside six nights a week, and acts as either an invitation or a deterrent. Racially diverse by NKC standards, River Aces is more lively than the rest of the bars on the street, and people seem to have a good time here. If you are a single lady, you will likely get one free drink at least. Its generally friendly, but we recommend that you watch yourself here, lest you end up drinking too many pre-made shots and get swept onto the dance floor with your skirt flying up, Marilyn-style.
