The main stage starts with Puddle of Mudd (1:30 p.m.) and ends with God-smack (9:30). The midpoint highlight promises to be Sevendust (3:50); the Atlanta band's Alpha, its sixth album, is one of its heavier offerings. Pioneers on the nu-metal frontier 10 years ago, the band is one of the few of its ilk to have survived — unlike the dissolved or defunct Limp Bizkit and Cold.
On the up-and-comers' stage, look for the locally connected Burden Brothers (2:10). Drummer Taz Bentley once played with Lawrence act Tenderloin as well as for psychobillies Reverend Horton Heat. Singer Vaden Todd Lewis is the former frontman of Toadies. The hard-to-quantify combination is required viewing.
No daylong rock celebration would be complete without the ghost of grunge, and you'll find him when Saliva (9 p.m.) takes the stage. The band looks like Nickelback and sounds like Creed but does all of the above in a less annoying way that's winning radio play.

ROCKFEST 2007 (BAD KITTY)
Those of you who know me, know how near and dear this yearly event is to my soul. This event is MY Musical Christmas! "Santa" was good this year!
Hats off to 98.9 The Rock for bringing such talented musicians to the midwest! This years line up was for me personally, the best I've seen.
Being around this "rock block" for a bit, most bands on Main Stage I've seen multipule times when they were climbing their way up.The bands I really wanted to see were main on the 2nd stage. You know as well as I do when your doing Rockfest you have to set your "musical interest priorities", if you will. My top priority of the day was to be there by 4:30 to see the Exies. It was a bit of a personal struggle due to the much needed girls night out with Sarah the night before. HANGOVER!
I made it about an hour before Exies came on and met up with some awsome people. So glad I was able to see Mike and Heidi. Thank you for enjoying that time with me! You cannot beat the vibe of Rockfest. Everyone coming together for one reason, Rock-and-Roll!
EXIES never dissapoint! Their live show is just as good, if not better in certain ways, than their produced music. This years show was the best live show I have seen from the Exies. Been there, done that a few times, have some comparisons and you boys kicked KC's ass! Exies had such an energized stage presence, you could truely feel their love for that moment!
Freddie: Way to stay true to the fans! I appreciate it. You know I love your work. I had a blast watching you guys, as always!
Scott: Your vocals have amazed me. This tour you guys put one hell of a twist on Hey You. I was feeling what you were doing and so was everyone! High five! Also props to your vocals on 'Leaving Song'!
Hoss: You and I need to work on out pitching/catching for those drum sticks. Next time you guys are close to me, I'll be same spot Left Center. We'll get it next time!
Dennis: Missed you. Hoping your doing good! Stay true to you. You said something to me about money one time and I want you to know that is still with me. My heart to you for your deep loss. *hugs*
Chris: You have awsome stage presence! You boys together, put the "umph" in beautiful music!
Dave: Missed you too! Hope your part of the world is being good to you. No doubt people are still doing what they wouldn't in their everyday life. Not me buddy, that's a young girls game.
BLACK STONE CHERRY has so much flipping heart. If you missed the drummer get it, shame on you! You have to appreciate such young talent with the ability to put on a live show like they did. Keep that heart!
DROWNING POOL is back! Better than last tour! So long Jason Jones! DO NOT miss them this go-around! These are some true musicians who deeply appreciate their fans. You love their music and they love you for it. I saw Steve thanking fans that have been with Drowning Pool from the get-go from stage with such a gleam in his eye it gave me the chills. Together Steve and CJ have beat odds that have knocked many down and those guys are still getting it! Rock on brothers
GODSMACK was the hot fudge on the brownie sudae! This was my first Godsmack show and shame on me! I have been a fan of Godsmack but only at the distance. My first Godsmack CD was given to me as a December Christmas gift from Kelly. Their live performance was definatly awe inspiring with the spectacular light show and insterment solos. I was totally ignorant to Sully's talent. What a smart way to end ROCKFEST 2007 but with such a strong force in our music history!
