Royal Chef

If you are what you eat, then nobody knows the British royal family like Darren McGrady does. He prepared every meal, party and spot of tea for Princess Diana and her two sons from 1993 until her death in 1997. Prior to serving the princess, McGrady was Queen Elizabeth II's cook for 11 years. Now a private chef in Dallas, McGrady has written a book of his crown years called Eating Royally. McGrady will be at the Kansas City Travel, Adventure & Culinary Expo at 1 p.m. In addition to demonstrating dishes he prepared at Buckingham Palace, McGrady will share stories about his time there and maybe reveal a secret or two. Afterward, he will sign copies of his book, the proceeds of which will go to charity. The Expo, which started Saturday, is at the Overland Park International Trade Center (6800 West 115th Street, 913-451-7691) today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
