The Missouri part of Kansas City has a couple of good soul-food buffets, but they’re harder to find on the Kansas side of the Kaw River. But for the last year, the little restaurant in the Hilton Garden Inn has offered — from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays only — an all-you-can-eat soul-food buffet. According to General Manager Kurt Mayo, Thursdays have become one of the busiest days of the week, thanks to a soul-food selection that always includes baked chicken, greens, stuffing, and sweet potatoes. “We sometimes have fried chicken or ham on the buffet,” Mayo says, “and our chef will occasionally feature hot bread pudding, too.” The full buffet, including salad and soup, is priced at $9.95, and the hot buffet is just $7.95, not including beverage, tax or gratuity.
