Stationary Shenanigans

For some brave souls, drunken bike riding is an art. So why shouldn't it happen on a stage? It will at Harling's Upstairs (3941 Main), when cyclists race fixed-gear stationary bikes in front of an audience. Cheer racers on while watching their miles per hour projected on a big screen or, for $5, bust out the bike shorts and sign up to compete in the MPLS ColdSprints bracket. After the winner is announced, anyone who has built up enough liquid courage is invited to race for free. Neither drinking nor spandex is required. In fact, if you see the latter, the wearer is probably being ironic. Registration for the bracket begins at 8 p.m., and the races begin at 9 p.m. E-mail rljones22@hotmail.com for more information.
