When Beth Barden moved her sassy breakfast-and-lunch restaurant out of the City Market and over to the Dutch Hill neighborhood at 26th Street and Holmes in late 2009, she transformed a long-vacant saloon into a light-filled storefront gallery filled with interesting art, music and patrons. There, she stylishly re-creates classic diner dishes, including pancakes, omelettes and a smoked-salmon eggs Benedict in the morning, and sandwiches and salads for lunch. The erratic service that annoyed patrons at the old location does not seem to be an issue at the Holmes location, and its much more comfortable, too. — Charles Ferruzza
