summer fun

To celebrate summer's arrival, treat your cultural side to a free arts festival, otherwise known as the Downtown KCK June Fest, sponsored by Downtown Shareholders and held in downtown Kansas City, Kansas (Minnesota Avenue between Sixth and Eighth streets), from 4 to 9 p.m. At the same time is the Second Friday Art Walk, which links a selection of art galleries for an all-around entertaining experience. Besides food and kids' activities, expect a car show, street performers (the sign of any real festival) and crafts. In addition, six bands — including Ernest James Zydeco and Hearts of Darkness — play live. For more information, see downtownkck.org or call 913-387-6074.— Jill Hilbrenner
Fri., June 11, 4-9 p.m., 2010
