As spartanly attractive as an art gallery — with an interesting collection of Asian art — this Vietnamese restaurant has all the right assets for its predominantly youth-conscious neighborhood: great visual flair, an interesting and reasonably priced menu, and highly attractive (if inattentive) servers. Fans of spicier Thai and Chinese fare might be surprised that traditional Vietnamese cuisine here tends to be a bit bland. But Sung Son serves some delicious dishes, from the delectably crispy fried-shrimp-and-sweet-potato-stick combination known as banh tom chien to lau do bien, a hot pot loaded with meats and vegetables in a gingery broth. — Charles Ferruzza
