The Sutera family has served pizza and Italian-American dishes at their West Bottoms location, called Suteras Old San Francisco Restaurant, for three decades. This suburban outpost is a bright, cheery place thats just as laid-back as the downtown venue. The tables are uncloaked, the napkins are paper, and diners can order either an American cheeseburger or an Italian one (the meat is seasoned, like a meatball). The pizza is terrific, and spaghetti and meatballs come smothered in a savory herbed sugo. Trendy it aint — its one of the few Italian joints that still serves spumoni. — Charles Ferruzza
