The last thing Damon Patterson would do is urge folks to drink up. But if they did, it might help solidify the location of
Open Stage Tuesdays, the weekly, all-ages variety show he organizes through Chameleon Arts and Youth Development. Now held at Club Rain (8015 Troost) from 8 p.m. to midnight, the event has bounced around a bit. Patterson says bars are reluctant to book a show that draws people who don't run up alcohol tabs. Plus, he truly opens the stage to anyone — rappers, rockers, dancers, comedians, even jugglers. "Basically, anything goes, as long as there's no nudity," Patterson says. The event includes an open jam for the musicians and a networking segment. "It's kind of like an artist meeting place," he says. Admission costs $5. For more information, e-mail Patterson at
