Now that he's reached the ripe old age of 37, you'd think that Tech N9ne would be ready to hang up the mic.
But judging by how he's spent his time lately, Kansas City's tongue-twisting hip-hop ambassador is just now hitting his stride. His 11th full-length, Killer (the cover of which parodies Michael Jackson's Thriller with a soft-focus Tech decked out in a white straitjacket), debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's independent-albums chart. Long known for his collaborations locally and nationwide, Tech stocks Killer with guest spots by Hed P.E. and Kottonmouth Kings, both of whom are also part of Tech's Strange Noize Tour, which lands here Saturday.
He may have toned down his hair and makeup recently, but that doesn't mean Tech's not still making a scene.
