The Allman Brothers Band

Tuesday, September 20, and Wednesday, September 21, at the Uptown Theater.

Thirty-six years is a real journey for any artist or group, but considering the ongoing journey of the Allman Brothers Band, such a lifespan more than defies convention — it abandons logic. Having survived disco, new wave, hair metal and more teen-pop idols than anyone can or should remember, the group has been able to carry on in recent years thanks to the infusion of fresh blood - daringly eclectic bassist Oteil Burbridge, ubiquitous guitar journeyman Warren Haynes, and young-gun guitarist Derek Trucks. Meanwhile Gregg Allman, having survived a rock lifestyle of legendary proportions, seems content to let his feet remain firmly on the ground rather than below it. This two-night run at the Uptown, carefully wedged between larger amphitheater shows slated for the band's fall tour, offers a rare opportunity to soak in the Allman Brothers Band's unique brand of Southern comfort in a small venue.
