It’s hard to strike the balance between elegance and inviting, but this Crown Center institution has managed to become more approachable under executive chef Debbie Gold. A new tasting menu lets you design a meal from three to nine courses -- the challenge is picking the watermelon-and-cherry-tomato salad or rosemary-scented lamb. You can always opt for a single course in the bar, where the extensive wine list and scratch cocktails encourage lounging.
