The Bottleneck is the largest “small” venue in Lawrence and Kansas City, regularly attracting prestigious college-rock bands. The club holds about 350 people, but everyone has a front-row seat. For many years it was the only club to catch big-name acts such as the Flaming Lips or the Pixies; hell, even Radiohead has played the ´Neck. Second-tier seating offers a view over the heads of the greasy-haired hipsters on the floor, and risers face the stage from the back of the dance floor. Pool tables are located near the front for those who are just not that into the band. Ticket prices are high, but it’s usually worth it.
