The "Passive House" concept led the students to fill the walls with tremendous amounts of insulation, so it would use 90 percent less energy than the typical residence.

In a matter of months, a crew of graduates students from the University of Kansas built a super-insulated, hyper-efficient home in the Prescott neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. Here, in pictures, the eco-friendly residence evolves from empty lot to nearly finished project.
